School Meals at Didsbury CE Primary School

School Meals

Healthy School Meals

Didsbury CE operates a healthy eating policy. At lunchtime, we encourage children to have a hot meal. These are cooked on site and are nutritionally balanced and always offer a choice. School meals are cooked on the premises; menus are available on request from the school office and special requirements such as vegetarian meals, or Halal meat are available. As a Healthy School, we offer a balanced selection of meal choices for our pupils.  Our foundation and KS1 pupils also have a choice of fruit at morning break.

Payment

School meals are £2.77 per meal. If a child is in Reception, or Years 1 and 2, they automatically qualify for Universal Free School Meals under the universal scheme. If you think you may be entitled to claimed Free School Meals, please check your eligibility using the link on this page.

You can pay for your child’s meals via Parent Pay. Please speak to the school office if you require further assistance.

Packed Lunch

Alternatively, children may bring a packed lunch. Please note - we are a NUT-FREE school. This means that any product containing any kind of nut is NOT permitted under any circumstances. Children should not bring crisps, sweets or chocolate into school at any time in line with the healthy eating policy. Small, round foods such as grapes, tomatoes etc must be cut in half/into smaller pieces.

Should you wish your child to bring a packed lunch from home, please see the website link at the bottom of this page for some healthy ideas and advice.

Drinks

Children should bring plain water to drink from in the classroom, so long as it has a sports cap and is named. These should be taken home and refilled each day. Please note - juice/fizzy drinks are NOT permitted and may be confiscated.
