This year, Didsbury CE has placed environmental action at the heart of our school community and we are incredibly proud of what our pupils have achieved.
We partnered with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) for an exciting school-wide project called Plants for Well-being. This initiative blossomed across our entire curriculum, focusing heavily on hands-on learning about seeds, plant life cycles and biodiversity. It also encouraged each class to grow and care for their own plants while connecting with nature to understand the positive benefits that the environment offers to our mental health.
The RHS team was so impressed by our school's dedication that they visited us to film a national promotional video. The filmmakers captured our pupils interacting with our green projects, talking passionately about their learning, and showcasing how our school, even with limited green space, is making a positive environmental impact. This final footage will be used by the RHS to inspire other schools across the country.
Alongside our RHS project, Didsbury CE has been working tirelessly toward achieving the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award. An immense amount of effort goes into this application, ranging from additional curriculum lessons to vital work in the local community.
To celebrate these fantastic achievements, our Eco-Committee was invited on a special trip to Wythenshawe Park. During the visit, the children participated in a wonderful range of eco-awareness activities. They thoroughly enjoyed building a bug hotel, taking part in a park litter pick and creating beautiful artwork using recycled resources.
We would like to say a huge thank you to our Eco-committee, staff and families for supporting these vital green initiatives throughout the school year.
